Frequently Asked Questions

All the common questions we get asked.

Water is Life Kenya–NZ is a registered charitable organisation based in New Zealand and Kenya. We aim to make clean, fresh, life-giving water easily accessible to women, and their communities in Kenya, that they may enjoy a better quality of life.

Our first project is based in Maralal, Samburu County, Northern Kenya (about 2 hours above the equator) — a land of great beauty where women and girls in particular have long faced the hardship of drought and water scarcity.  A place where women and young girls walk 2 hours daily to carry 20 Litres of water.

Every gift is carefully stewarded. Most funds are used directly for water projects and community development, with a small portion supporting necessary administration and compliance. As a registered charity, we provide full quarterly reporting to ensure transparency and accountability.

Help us share our story around the globe. Start a fundraising project, partner with us, as a church or business; offer your skills. Every act of kindness helps.  You can help us plant seeds of love today that will change lives forever.

Our first project is to help the Samburu Maasai community in Maralal to have an easily accessible clean water source, then expand out to other communities where the need is greatest for water resources.

  1. Fundraise/create awareness
  2. Build the Water Project
  3. Manage the Project
  4. Expand – into crops for eating and selling, then Reforest the desert one tree at a time!
  5. Give back – that this community will help another community to have water and then they will help their neighbor community, and…… the giving goes on ….

Our longer term mission is to restore dry lands, support families in growing food, and create opportunities for sustainable incomes. Together, we are helping build lives filled with dignity, hope, and futures that shine into the next generation and beyond….
